Agreed on the seat for one kid. We do a trailer for two kids but unless you have space to store it with the trailer on and don't use it for anything else it is a pain to take it on and off and store it. My son also started using a trail-a-bike the same age, which he loves (although same issue with taking on an off but a bit easier to store). https://www.trail-a-bike.com/products/trail-a-bikes/original-folder-compact/ If you might have more kids I would look at a cargo bike- the ones with the box in front have the same issue with storage but are fund for kids. The Tern GSD is nice and compact; the Rad Power Wagon is decently priced but heavy.
No we're likely one and done but if we do have a second kid it wouldn't be until another 2 years. So would be like a 7 year old and a 2 year old which I don't think a trailer would apply at that point anyways. I am interested in the trailer bike my concern being that he isn't as restrained then. I mean part of the reason why I don't want to walk is because he has a new obsession with pine cones and every single one needs to be inspected. Not thinking I explained to him that pine cones hold the seeds and the seeds are what the trees grow and so it's like how trees make baby trees. And so the follow-up question to every pine cone is what mommy tree do you think this belongs to and what type of tree do you think is going to look like? Both parents have ADD and I'm not entirely certain that he wouldn't just stop and jump off of the thing if he saw something interesting 🤔
