We do a trailer for two kids but unless you have space to store it with the trailer on and don't use it for anything else it is a pain to take it on and off and store it. My son also started using a trail-a-bike the same age, which he loves (although same issue with taking on an off but a bit easier to store).

If you might have more kids I would look at a cargo bike- the ones with the box in front have the same issue with storage but are fund for kids. The Tern GSD is nice and compact; the Rad Power Wagon is decently priced but heavy.
