Fairfax base schools are great.  Fairfax AAP is also very good.  What is ridiculous is the parents who angle and scheme to get into AAP.  Not everyone needs to be in AAP and some parents have a hard time understanding that their child is not a fit.  Instead, they come up with conspiracy theories about the teachers and AART denying their kids gift and paying extra money for appeals.  But, remember, most parents do not do this.  For my oldest, the process was straightforward and involved nothing from me but filling out one questionnaire.  But many of those who get so anxious and obsessive about the process do post on this board.  This board does not represent the process for most parents in Fairfax.

No, see, Arlington schools operate at such a high level they don't NEED gifted programs. Our regular schools are equal to your center schools. There's no need for differentiation.

The sheer number of "gifted" students in Fairfax, many of whom had to cajole to get into the program only underscores that Fairfax is, at heart, just a two-tier school system. In Arlington, excellence and achievement is expected and realized for all students.
