I also used Brain Quest flash card sets from age 3, I think.  It was a lark, and I wasn't going to push it unless my son seemed to enjoy them.  And he really did.  For about a minute a day.  ;)

But at that age, it's more about just reading books together daily.  Singing songs.  Going out and experiencing nature and art, etc.   Get a refrigerator magnet set of the alphabet.  Put up a sign in her room with her name.  Print his name in the front of books while he watches.   Make sure he sees you reading and writing.  [/quote]
