My kid was there until they got into Walls off the wait list. The building is beautiful and things seemed to be going well there, at least as of mid-September.
How do the two schools compare?
Hard to do a direct comparison because my child has been completely swamped with catching up on homework and tests from the first weeks of Walls. Things you probably already know: They both assign a lot of homework and tests; Walls has more sports and extracurriculars; the student bodies are very different racially and very similar in that they are full of hard-working, smart kids. Things you may not know (I didn't beforehand): Banneker assigned much, much more summer homework; Walls has significantly better communication with families; Banneker has an oddly strict dress code (e.g. no shorts); both school staffs seem overworked and perhaps overwhelmed.
Thank you for your perspective. I have found in my experience that Banneker’s administration is oddly strict about a lot of things that wouldn’t fly at a school like Walls.
Care to be specific?
