FWIW, my son is U14 and has played on two of his club's top teams over the past two years. Both teams had dedicated goalies who did not play in the field. So, I think it is not that uncommon. But, if you want your child to be in the field, and they want that too, and you were promised that, you need to talk to the coach - WITH, and not for, your child, at this age.[/quote]
