It was rather enlightening on thread count, cotton varieties, different weaves, etc. My recollection is that percale is the longest lasting weave (sateen starts out soft but doesn't last very long), and that the thread count is less important than the cotton type. Egyptian or pima/supima are the longest fibers and hence make the softest and strongest sheets. And be sure to get sheets that are deep enough for your mattress. [/quote]
