You can buy the Wilson OG reading program for around $400 and do it yourself. I did and bribed my son to do 30 minutes a day school nights, and more weekends and summers. The money we saved in tutors we went to Disney world, bought prizes on Amazon, went skiing, etc.
I wouldn't criticize anyone for doing this if they didn't have the money for a certified tutor, but please realize that to get certified you get quite a bit of training. In addition to two MEds I also spent an entire summer tutoring with Wilson with a Wilson trainer who observed frequently and gave feedback and led many sessions for training. It was an arduous process to get certified and I can't imagine that just ordering the materials and giving it a go would yield the same deep understanding that I have, for most people.
