I hate bath mats-period. I know they are practical and are good to have. But, I have a little PTSD from when I was growing up. My mother is admittedly and proudly tacky when it comes to house stuff. Think Lillian Vernon meets Thomas Kinkaide knock offs (yes-not even real crappy Kinkaide paintings). The toilet paper holder that is "disguised" as a 18th century woman with a long dress! The little garden gnomes and gardening woman showing her ass! So, she had the bath mat "set" in every bathroom. Two bath mats, toilet lid cover and the little mat that fits around the base of the toilet. All color coordinated in shag carpeting type fabric. Still has them today but has changed out the avocado green to coral! So, we have one bath mat for esch full athroom. my husband wants another bath mat for both.. Mind you, our bathrooms are not big. So, the mats will probably even be touching at some point because the space is so small. But, he wants one for when he comes out of the shower and one for the sink. He thinks it's ridiculous that a grown man has to move the one isolated bath mat in order not to stand on cold tile. So, I know that my mother has skewed my perspective-and perhaps not all of her home decorating tenedencies are as bad as I think. So, give me that much needed perspective. Tacky or not?
