I think so. We always hang it on the side of the tub when we're done so we don't give it a chance... but I do wash it every other week along with our towels.

Your post made me smile. We have a bath mat outside of the shower, next to the tub, one under the toilet, and one in front of the sink. The other two full bath bathrooms each have two mats.... I also have a Thomas Kincaid painting in my kitchen!

I don't like having more than one, but it seems like Tisa fairly small concession to the man you married. If he wants one in the master bath, let him have it.

20:24 again. Re the number, I guess it depends on the size of the bathroom. We have one in front of the toilet and one for stepping out of the shower, but it's a largish bathroom.

It is your goddamn house and it's ridiculous that you have to consult the masses for to see if it passes the tacky test before you allow your husband to have what he wants in his own home. Your poor husband.

What will you tell him if DCUM says it's tacky? "Sorry, honey. The internet says it's tacky and I wouldn't want any visitors to our home to judge us for the number of bath mats we have."

Funny. My H has a thing against bathmats, and I've always thought they look fine. We just remodeled a bathroom, and he wanted to replace the two we have (high end, cotton, not the polyester long-fiber ones from Bed Bath and Beyond or similar) with small oriental rugs. I thought that was ridiculous and kept the ones we have. All in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

It's fine. Just have one for the guest bathroom if you're worried someone will think it is tacky.

I hate bath mats-period. I know they are practical and are good to have. But, I have a little PTSD from when I was growing up. My mother is admittedly and proudly tacky when it comes to house stuff. Think Lillian Vernon meets Thomas Kinkaide knock offs (yes-not even real crappy Kinkaide paintings). The toilet paper holder that is "disguised" as a 18th century woman with a long dress! The little garden gnomes and gardening woman showing her ass! So, she had the bath mat "set" in every bathroom. Two bath mats, toilet lid cover and the little mat that fits around the base of the toilet. All color coordinated in shag carpeting type fabric. Still has them today but has changed out the avocado green to coral!

So, the mats will probably even be touching at some point because the space is so small. But, he wants one for when he comes out of the shower and one for the sink.
