However, depending on how short or how long your LH surge is, ovulation could be underway at the time you get the positive, or it could be 24-48 hours later. Thus, the kit does not indicate when you ovulated or even if you ovulated successfully. Charting your basal temps is the only way to verify you ovulated. 24 hours or so following ovulation, your basal temperature will rise and stay high until your next period begins.
