How old are you? I'm middle aged, a bit taller than you, and losing weight at my age is super hard. Lift weights, run more and reduce calories more. I think that's the only thing at this point that *may* help.
I am 34. I think I am mostly healthy. A sample day of eating is as follows: - Breakfast - steel cut oats with almond milk, chia and flaxseed and fruit - cup of coffee with small amount of creamer lunch - protein smoothie or - sandwich of some sort or leftovers from dinner the night before dinner - baked salmon with veggies and rice or -chicken with veggies and rice or -chicken and veggies or -lentil soup Take out once or twice a week
Don't know what the takeout is, but if you are eating this stuff for the rest of the week, then I'd go see a doctor. Maybe you've got a thyroid problem, or maybe you are pregnant and don't know it. Starving yourself is absolutely the wrong idea.
I guess there's no harm in seeing a doctor, but the simplest explanation is probably the correct one: she's just not burning enough calories. If she's consistently run one mile (which, no judgement, but isnt really that much and doesnt burn as many calories as you really think), her body has likely adjusted to that level of exercise and it takes her less output to complete that task. She should start a brand new exercise routine, using bodyweight movements (lunges, squates, push/pull ups, etc). Assisted if need be. And a lot can be accomplished with only 1 or 2 dumbbells. I see a lot of people that think they are working harder than they really are, and then overeating bc they think they've worked so hard.
