Oh Crap is pretty badly written- not worth shelling out for money for it. I used naked method with all three kids. Somewhat followed Oh Crap for the first but the book is mostly filler- she doesn't really address anything other than basics (and even then she only offers one solution that might not work) so ended up just googling around when had a particular issue (eg withholding poop).
I had a similar reaction to Oh Crap and glad I'm not the only one! Plus the tone, very chiding, ugh. And sexist!! Always addressing Mom's, and Dads get a "cheat sheet" at the end because they're busy?!
Yes, this book is super sexist and I'm shocked it gets treated as the Bible. Plenty of other books out there with better advice.
I took some of her advice when PT my kid. But, I found her tone and overall writing to be really weird and sexist. Also, she literally has no education, training, or prior experience with pediatric behavioral science or medicine or early childhood education in any way. She has one child who is now a teenager, and before she wrote the potty training manual she worked as a trapeze artist. She went to community college and studied theater. So .... some decent advice in her book, but not for everyone, particularly those who prefer parenting books to come from an author with specific credentials.
