You don't need a book.

I'd modify the naked method - it works but it's way better to lay lots of groundwork for it first (have your kid practicing and excited about the potty beforehand). The idea that it has to be nothing and then full potty training just asks for a stressful weekend.

The naked method did not work for us. Our kid hated it and revolted (she would literally lie on the floor screaming and crying for a diaper or pull-up and was inconsolable) and we wound up in pull-ups for a LONG time and had to work with a potty training consultant. So I would maybe rethink your willingness to do it because it is VERY hard to train without it. It's just really hard for them to understand when they have to go. Our kid wound up having to train while wearing pull-ups and segueing to training pants, then underwear, and it took FOREVER. I would never, ever choose to do it that way if we'd basically had no other choice. We think our kid may have a sensory processing disorder.

Yeah, Oh Crap is badly written and sexist - but it works and works fast!

I took some of her advice when PT my kid. But, I found her tone and overall writing to be really weird and sexist. Also, she literally has no education, training, or prior experience with pediatric behavioral science or medicine or early childhood education in any way. She has one child who is now a teenager, and before she wrote the potty training manual she worked as a trapeze artist. She went to community college and studied theater. So .... some decent advice in her book, but not for everyone, particularly those who prefer parenting books to come from an author with specific credentials.

I don’t think that exists. Naked method is pretty essential to quickly training. FWIW my DD trained that way in 2 days. Just long dresses covering things. She was back wearing pants on day three.

Why not? Have you read the theories and reasons behind it?

Read OH Crap, super easy once you understand the process well. You have to be mentally prepared to PT your child, good luck.

I don’t know of any potty training methods that don’t have a naked on the bottom step at some point. You might need to come up with a plan you think will work yourself and then see if it does.

Even the gradual methods require some naked time. It really doesn't click in without it.

If you don't want to do anything that involves no diaper or underwear for most of at least one day, you're really limiting yourself as to both resources and method.

What are the best books out there for potty training. I don't plan on using the naked all day method.
