The display was always so exciting! Not sure how it started, but goes back at least to my great grandparents. All my 1st and 2nd cousins do the same. Sometimes growing up the tree would be across the room from the fireplace. Santa gifts were left in front of the mantle near the stockings. Never thought of doing it any other way, but now that I'm a busy parent, it's nice to fewer things to wrap. [/quote]
