Fking idiots.[/quote] I’m not sure that I fully agree with this proposition. This man went to prison a child and served 26 years for what was a conspiracy/felony murder conviction. That’s a long time to serve for not being the trigger man, right? It was not in fact that long ago that a “life sentence” was in fact 20-25 years of actual imprisonment prior to parole/release. The questions I have is what happened to this person while in person (was there any attempt to rehabilitate this teenager?) and then what happened after release. While there is only one person who’s responsible for this murder, I can see how dropping this man into society with likely limited literacy and life skills could be a problem that should have been thought about. Did he get any support to transition to the outside? I don’t know. But if we are to learn anything from the past the response here is not to turn this guy into a Willy Horton boogeyman as we try to figure out how to reduce our country’s world leading prison population.
