People need to vote out the politicians who are more concerned about the rights of criminals than the rights of victims.

See that statistic in action.

Do better by minors.

So, someone who is under 25 YO and participates in murder should not to to prison?
That is not a country I would want to live in. You do the crime - you do the time.

When you create a system that support your children and fail others you pay the consequences.

No, we have Charlies Allen and the woke folks at the restorative justice, hugs for murderers as punishment, city council. Fking idiots.

I’m not sure that I fully agree with this proposition.

This man went to prison a child and served 26 years for what was a conspiracy/felony murder conviction. That’s a long time to serve for not being the trigger man, right?

It was not in fact that long ago that a “life sentence” was in fact 20-25 years of actual imprisonment prior to parole/release.

The questions I have is what happened to this person while in person (was there any attempt to rehabilitate this teenager?) and then what happened after release.

While there is only one person who’s responsible for this murder, I can see how dropping this man into society with likely limited literacy and life skills could be a problem that should have been thought about.

Did he get any support to transition to the outside? I don’t know.

But if we are to learn anything from the past the response here is not to turn this guy into a Willy Horton boogeyman as we try to figure out how to reduce our country’s world leading prison population.

Did Charles Allen account for transitional support with the law he wrote and pushed through? Gee, IDK.

Maybe a e should start hugging murderers. Because prison isn’t working. It’s time to try something else.

Keep murderers in prison.

Sure. How about you move in with the family of a fatherless child, of which statistics show a glaring dearth in some communities, and instill values such as discipline, self control, delayed gratification, respect for authority and basically not shooting people because you feel like it. However, that’s not going to happen, so instead to try and even historical injustices and a terrible American legacy, the city council has simply chosen the path of lowering the bar. Now everyone else who doesn’t commit murders has the pleasure of playing Russian roulette on a daily basis. I mean even more than they already do. So keep your idiotic platitudes.

Horrible. Could have been prevented by keeping this monster in prison for life.
