Has anyone seen a change in the covid guidelines for their club? Our team has a positive and is playing in a tournament within 7 days of the onset of symptoms. I am a bit appalled by their lack of concern for other kids.
Why? 1. Covid is less dangerous for kids than the 'flu. 2. There are zero confirmed cases of asymptomatic spread in the entire world. 3. Less than 0.1% of transmission occurs outdoors, and zero cases have been confirmed to occur playing outdoor sports.
I'm all for not wearing masks for kids' soccer games, but the "facts" you list are NOT the ones I hear. ZERO confirmed asymptomatic spread? We have two in our neighborhood alone. Less than .1% transmission occurs outdoors? I know its much, much safer to be outdoors than indoors, but the outbreak in Italy at the beginning of all this was traced back to a professional soccer match played outside. Kids under 13 are far less suseptible to COVID and transmission... I think the data on that is clear, though I"ve never seen pecise stats on it like the ones quoted above. Kids playing soccer outdoors shouldn't need masks... Amen on that. But I don't see it specifically addressed in CDC guidelines.
