You need to lift heavy (in combo with eating right). Contrary to what some people think, lifting heavy will not make you bulk.
What is lifting heavy? I use 6 lbs and 8 lbs presently.
When people say "lifting heavy" they are usually referring to big, compund movements done with a barbell that target your whole body -- barbell back squats, barbell bench press, barbell overwhead press and deadlifts. "Heavy" is less of an absolute number and more the idea that you'll do most exercies for only 5 sets of 5 reps rather than like 100 bicep curls wiht a 5 pound weight. Beginners start with an empty 45 pound barbell (or less for women with upper body stuff) and slowly add weight with lots of attention to correct form. These days, very many women are discovering these lifts and loving how they look. Check out "New Rules of Lifting For Women" or "Starting Strength" or "Stronglifts".
