That’s because men like to do stupid workouts like their 3 rep max on benching. They’ll spend all this time at the gym setting up a bar, getting spotted, lifting their 3 set max, then sitting while the other guy sets up his bench and they spot him. Meanwhile women are lifting for volume.
Except that this is EXACTLY what they should do if it's what their program calls for. It's stupid to call someone's training stupid without knowing their goals, experience level, training history, etc. Based on your response ("lifting for volume" lol) I'm gonna guess that powerlifters at your gym doing sets of 3 with long rests know a lot more about programing to meet their goals than you do.
PP - Powerlifters eat to support maximing strength, which means they often end up fat. I would be a lot stronger than I am if I didn't cut weight every couple of months to maintain a low body fat percentage. When I'm on a bulk, my lifts all increase as soon as I start eating more.
