Most of them have aspirations beyond school board, so they don’t want to risk associating themselves with anything too controversial. I was happy with Duran when he first started, and I still think he has potential as a superintendent. Unfortunately this kind of crisis is not the time for someone to be figuring out how to be an effective superintendent, and someone with more experience in that role probably would have been more effective.
