Look at the MS math listings for various middle schools. LearnZillion (or AMP) seems to be the new math curriculum. Not all schools have AIM 6 listed. Some schools have AMP6 and AMP6+, but no AIM6. Is AIM6 = AMP6+? My kids MS is telling parents that all 6th graders (even those who took compacted math) will be on a pathway to take Algebra in 8th. Our kids can double up math in 9th.
AIM6 is not the same as AMP6+. AIM6 is the AIM class they've had in the past for kids after compacted math, leading to Algebra in 7th. AMP6+ covers 6th grade and half lf 7th grade math, followed by AMP7+, which covers the rest of 7th and all of 8th, followed by Algebra in 8th. The AMP6+ and AMP7+ classes are a curriculum put together by LearnZillion (compacting their normal 6-8 classes into two years). AIM was designed by MCPS. I just looked at 7 different middle schools and saw: 2 schools offering Math 6, 6+, and AIM for next year's 6th graders; one that listed 6+ and AIM only; two that listed 6 and AIM only; one that listed 6 and 6+ only; and one that listed 6+ and 7, which was weird. It's clearly not being done the same at each school.
