My daycare says the following symptoms indicate kids to see health professional before coming back to school. Only 1 symptom: - New onset of cough ( what does that mean? Nonstop coughing or coughing a few times a day? Even healthy kid or adult cough a few times a day, and my 2 year old lately likes to fake coughing because it is fun) - Shortness or breath Two symptoms or more: - fever of 100.4 or higher -chills -shivering -muscle pain -sore throats -headache -loss of sense of taste or smell -nausea, vomiting or diarrhea So, running nose & sneezing are not on the lists because they are so common? I am surprised fever alone is okay.
The fever thing is weird to me too because we weren't allowed to bring a kid with a fever over 100 pre covid!
The metrics for "what is a fever" were increased by... I think the Amer. Assoc of Pediatrics? BEFORE covid but it finally took hold. So, ,a "fever" is now 100.4 vs .100.1 which is what I've used for years as a preschool director. So it's not Covid, it's new decisions about "what is a fever." The rest I can't speak to - we have different rules - every state has different rules it seems for when a child and teacher should be out of childcare/school.
