we live in NW DC off the red line and have casually considered leaving town for the election (especially day(s) following due to the potential for unrest. At the very least we’ll have a change of clothing packed. Do you think this is reasonable? Anyone thought through this?
We also live in NW D.C. right near the Red line and this seems completely unnecessary. For one, the unrest this summer was pretty minimal in this neighborhood (a few stores were smashed and looted near us, but that didn't really affect our personal safety). For another, the various right-wing militia groups that are making vague threats to come to D.C. to support Trump are ... unlikely to be targeting primarily wealthy white neighborhoods. Seems easy enough to just stay at home if things get a little weird. If they get REALLY weird, I'm not sure I'd want to be far from home, anyway.
