I'm surprised by the replies but I'll take them!

The consensus on our block/in our neighborhood is that people are mildly concerned. I know a bunch of folks with plans to leave town and others are discussing it.

I was wondering what the broader group-think is. Glad to know that we are overreacting.

Like Union Station off the redline? I can't imagine any other NW redline stop where you'd be even a weeny bit concerned about sitting at home that night.

We also live in NW D.C. right near the Red line and this seems completely unnecessary. For one, the unrest this summer was pretty minimal in this neighborhood (a few stores were smashed and looted near us, but that didn't really affect our personal safety). For another, the various right-wing militia groups that are making vague threats to come to D.C. to support Trump are ... unlikely to be targeting primarily wealthy white neighborhoods. Seems easy enough to just stay at home if things get a little weird.

If they get REALLY weird, I'm not sure I'd want to be far from home, anyway.

I would be more worried when it’s time for Trump to be removed from his office and the proud boy patriots come to defend him.

I don’t think OP is being unreasonable. I know of at least one building downtown that is keeping up the plywood’s from the protests until after the election. I plan on working from home that week, I live in the suburbs, like I did when the protests occurred. It was difficult to get around.

Probably not. If I was in Shaw or somewhere else very close to downtown I might be more concerned.

Each US citizen would be at their own residences watching the results throughout the country. If there are riots or protests (or celebrations) they would be happening wherever people live. It will be a Tuesday. I can’t see people traveling across country just to come to DC to do .... whatever.
