Hello. I would appreciate hearing about responsibilities/time commitment of a team's treasurer. So far, it appears that the role includes creating a budget, signing on players, registering them with relevant leagues, collecting payments, making payments on behalf of the team. Does the club normally provide any assistance/guidance (does this depend on a club or is there a fairly standard way to split the responsibilities)? What are some things to be aware of? Thank you.
Some clubs provide guidance. Some don't. Your best guide is probably the previous treasurer, or a treasurer from a different team who might be willing to spend thirty minutes with you. I strongly recommend you try to get your club to sign up with ground work (https://www.ground.work/) - it makes collecting payments a whole lot easier.
Oh and some clubs do a lot more of the budget tracking for you than others. In some cases you are entirely on your own - in others you are just asked to check a monthly report of expenses.
