The MCPS survey sent out to parents soliciting their input to fall options just closed last week. Anyone know if it was applied to the DL plan MCPS cooked up for fall? Seems like MCPS had a plan and then sent the survey out just to check the box. I guess this isn’t a massive surprise given MCPS’ track record but really disappointing and shows total contempt for parents who responded and to the kids the county is supposed to serve.
Let’s just say in this survey and in other ones you can pretty much tell where things are heading given the questions. Anytime I have tried I have accurately predicted 100% of the time what the outcome will be based on the survey questions. Having said that, being a manager in a complex organization with staff across the country I have also thought how I would handle things and have also always settled upon what they have come out with as well. I think most people severely underestimate legal and logistic hurdles when they start laying down their requirements as to how things should work out.
+1 Agree. They will likely be presenting survey results at the BOE meeting on Tuesday. If MCPS is similar to PG - their survey showed something like ~45% wanted 100% DL, ~40% wanted hybrid, and ~15% wanted 100% in-person. I think that if MCPS communicates better the improvements with DL over spring COL and people really think about whether or not hybrid is offering a better option than 100% DL, more people will pick 100% DL. IMO, hybrid should be reserved for students who really cannot be taught over DL (K-2, SPED, ESOL). I think we'll end up there as a community when people assess their own real needs.
