We wanted to adopt a child and had the ability to do it internationally. Through someone my mom worked with, we found a person from a foreign country who was high enough to allow us to adopt from there (you generally had to be from that country's heritage to get a baby). Then, and this sounds insane,when walking the dog, we met a person who works with someone from that country who is a very successful entrepreneur. That individual met with the first person and together with a US Senator who was friends with the entrepreneur, pulled enough strings to get the paperwork done so that we could fly out there and bring home a baby.

On another note with this, I traveled a lot for business and when coming home, would wonder if they next plane I got on would be to get a baby. And from where I live, there is an international carrier everyone takes to Europe, then connects to go to various countries. On my last trip for this company, arriving at night, I left my plane and saw a 747 from this airline with the tail lit up - had never seen this before and sure enough, we left soon after on the exact same airline, same kind of plane. If that isn't a sign, don't know what is.
