Add a solar cover. We use ours all the time. Keeps the pool from losing heat at night. Pool is easily 85 degrees for 75% of the summer. Get a roller to easily take on and off the pool.
This. My brother lives in SD, and I visit him reasonably often. He doesn't have a pool, but he's building his dream home and will have one there. It depends a little where you are how hot it is. But, on average, if you like a really warm pool you'll need it heated or a high quality solar cover. With those, though, it'll be pool weather much of the year.
