Americans, why do you accept soccer being a pay-to-play system?
who exactly is going to cover, at a minimum, coach's salaries and facilities rentals? There is no Barcelona to underwrite La Masia here.
In Europe youth coaches do not get paid more than a few hundreds. Their teams and nations dominate. Here you all get robbed and then end up eating Sh¡t. But of course, “we Americans are better”.
In Europe those kids are associated with academies that cost their parent clubs far more than any American youth teams
Even if parents arent paying dont the clubs then own your rights to the transfer market? I am assuming they recruit players early to then make a profit off them to sell to other teams or if really good to play for the home club. I am sure there are offsetting costs for players that dont make it or get injured but ultimately they are attempting to make a profit off the players right? I guess thats better for the families? America just doesn't have a huge soccer market to buy/sell/trade players, Europe has the market with leagues in each country. at least thats my take as an average american parent :D
