Maybe not all services but there were already many services rendered. Planning for season involves much up front work that’s already been done and those folks who did that work are not giving back, so how could the league give everything back? Are the fields refunding all the costs that were paid up front? Are the equipment and uniform providers refunding all that was purchased ahead of time? Are the online providers for email and website services refunding payments from the beginning of the year? There are ongoing costs to run the league many of which have already been paid and aren’t coming back to the league, so how can the league give a full refund?
I won’t pretend to know everything that was already done but with ASA rec soccer, the uniforms don’t change from year to year and the only kids who would have been getting new uniforms this season would be kids who hadn’t played yet. They will just store whatever they had for next season (new uniforms won’t be handed out to everyone again until fall 2021 I believe). All the fields that they play on are owned by Arlington County so I would imagine there would be some sort of an agreement reached since those fields are closed so no practice or games can take place even if ASA wanted to. I’m also not sure if the teams had been finalized yet before all of this happened. Obviously there would be some hours spent working on that but I get the coach emails from our teams and hadn’t seen one yet verifying the final team placement. That could be part of where the $15 administration fee came from. It’s not called a credit card fee.
