It always looks bad. Just embrace the vintage until/unless you’re going to redo the bathroom.
+1 I’ve seen painted over tiles and never liked the way it looked, so when we moved into a house with a pink bathroom we embraced it. We got vintage (or vintage look, but not too kitschy or over the top) soap dispenser, mirror, etc. Our towels and shower curtain complemented the pink rather than try to neutralize it. We added plants, which looked really nice against the green. It was never not going to be a pink bathroom, but it wasn’t terrible.
I agree with the PPs. I am the owner of pink, yellow, and green bathrooms. I considered painting over the tiles but after hours of researching the process I changed my mind. It’s not worth the hassle. The bathrooms are a huge eyesore but what helps is not fighting the colors. I included the bathroom color in accessories for the bathroom - that helped a lot. Now the bathrooms are just there. You don’t notice them and don’t hate them until you see an updated bathroom. I say save your money and time and get what you really want when you can.
