Posted six hours ago on his Facebook page. This would be against freedom of speech, no? “RULES FOR FACEBOOK COMMENTERS ON MY PAGE: 1) My constituents can say whatever they want. Period. But I may ask you to verify that you are my constituent by privately sending me your address. 2) Non-constituents will be prohibited from making off-topic comments. I'll give one warning, but future off-topic comments will be deleted. (I.e. if you want to talk about guns, save it for my many threads I have on guns unless it has relevance to the topic at hand). This is not a general discussion board but one reserved for the topic at hand. (Constituents will also be encouraged to stay on topic but will not be blocked.) 3) Anonymous commenters (which includes anyone whose location is undisclosed or unverifiable on their public facebook page) and those from out of state who make personal attacks, threats, libel, or obscene comments unrelated to any policy discussion will have their comments deleted and their names blocked. You have the right to strongly disagree with my policies or that of anyone else who posts here. But you don't have the right to anonymously post such attacks. Nor does anyone from out of state have a right to post such things. As for Virginians outside of my district, I still strongly encourage you to post policy discussions and critiques and avoid personal attacks, threats, libel, or obscene comments. While I could legally block you as well, I do not intend to do so at this time. 4) These rules will be applied equally to everyone, regardless of viewpoint and regardless of whether I agree with you or not. My team and I will do my best to monitor the page, but we may miss something. If you find an example where we have missed something, let us know and we will apply the rules. 5) All sockpuppets (I.e. fake accounts) will be blocked and deleted. That includes real accounts of people who use sockpuppets. Please understand that this page is primarily for constituents and secondarily for people acting in good faith who want to engage in genuine discussions of policy or politics. This is not a page for trolling behavior designed to crowd out legitimate discussion. Just as shouting down a speaker is a violation of the First Amendment, so is intentional disrupting of legitimate speech with a goal to destroy rather than encourage debate and discussion. I apologize for having to implement these rules, but they are designed to promote a better experience for all concerned. That said, if you want to criticize (or praise!) my policies or me, please go right ahead. That's indeed what this board is all about. But if you're not a constituent, please stick to the topic provided and avoid libel and threats. And here's a hint: unfocused ad hominem attacks may make you feel good but they are corrosive to our democracy. Got a problem with something I or someone else has said and done? Be specific. Tell me what you disagree with. And yes, of course, feel free to comment about the policy below, which is designed to promote a better experience for all people of good faith who comment here.”
