While there is definitely politics to the process, the general concept is that coaches can usually get a player invited to the first one.  After that, ongoing invitations are based on the evaluation of the staff on site (and also politics).  [/quote]

We (FCV team parent) had parent contact local scout.  This parent wanted to know what her daughter can do to "improve" and get called up.    Daughter went to the special recommended speed and agility trainer.  Parent campaigned relentlessly  to coach.  Parent called local scout and updated the progress of her daughter.  Ta Da!  Call up within a month.

Oh yeah, and I know coaches who lobby for their players relentlessly, or throw a fit when they get cut.  It is political.  And it's also political if a player goes and gets played where they will shine or is put some random position they have never played.  [/quote]
