Where else? I don't want to waste spots. I know Van Ness, L-T, Muary, Brent are absolute no-gos as far as getting in. Even Amidon-Bowen seems impossible to get into! (which blows my mind after living in SW from 2006-2011). We'll be commuting across the Hill to get to downtown and Foggy Bottom/GW area. Thomson? Stevens?

In an ideal world, wed land at a school that is play-based. I know, that's not how a lot of DC schools are. We're not looking for language immersion (DH and I are fluent in German and Russian, neither of which are offered). For basic information on the schools, use the DC School Report Cards. I wouldn't worry too much about the number of 'stars' a school gets since that's more about upper grades that PreK https://dcschoolreportcard.org/

Add the new (as of fall 2020) Stevens early education center to your list. It is close to Foggy Bottom. it's city-wide and new, so there are no in-bound or sibling preferences at play this year.
