Even if you have their tv service, you could buy your own router rather than rent. If you do Internet only, or internet+phone, you can use any router. Their router works fine, but you can use your own generic one. With the Verizon router though, the tech support can see your router password. Not good if you want everything locked down, but not bad for a grandparent who can't remember what they set. [/quote]
