Eventually reality sets in and kids start to focus on their studies and their careers. If they can still fit soccer in great but if they can't then it gets dropped. Priorities simply shift and that is ok. I'll bet though that while not pursing playing, many kids who played D1 or college at all at some point likely look into coaching later on, if not as a side gig ultimately for their kids when the time comes.
