Our 2nd DD (almost 3) had ear tubes put in at 13 months and later - when her nose constantly ran green and there was some indication of trouble hearing and heavy snoring - her adenoids removed. Maybe 20 months or so? I honestly don’t remember! It helped tremendously with the nasal infections and snoring. Her speech is still lagging a bit but she’s passed all hearing tests now. At the time of her surgeries her tonsils looked fine, but at last appointment they were bigger so we’ll watch them. Adenoids were no big deal - she slept off the anesthetic and was herself the next day if not sooner. Our first DD had adenoids and ear tubes at 22 months and her tonsils removed just after her 4th bday. The ENT suggested waiting to 4 so she would understand what was happening. She had TONS of mini wake ups in her sleep study, breathed with her mouth open etc. The ENT who did her adenoids said her tonsils were huge and the (different because we moved) ENT who removed her tonsils said they were some of the biggest she’d seen. After the ear tube / adenoid surgery she slept a few hours and then wanted to go to the zoo! After tonsils she was much more sore. A few days of stronger meds and a few days of less strong meds - the 4th or 5th day she got more sore again. About 10 days of no running around but probably 3-5 days of being quite sore. Still, I’m very glad we did it. Better sleep for sure and she’s had strep 3-4 times in the 3 years since removing her tonsils (if not more) so I suspect (with less sleep for her immune system and being more prone) she’d have been more sick if she’d had her tonsils. The reason we did 2nd DD’s adenoids right away when offered (she was too young at her 13 mo surgery) is because we knew how much it helped 1st DD
