The Foxhound was definitely the smartest, very stubborn as well, but understood so many words, including when I used the word in a sentence and not talking to her directly.
The shepherd is the best behaved, can be off the leash all the time ( I dont do this near roads obviously but could if I wanted to) and stays next to me, I didnt train her to do this, its just in her nature, also smart, but not as smart as the hound in my opinion.

My lab was 10 mos when we got him and knew no words, we say he is stupid but hes actually not. He is 8 now and knows a lot of words, is housebroken etc, he just had a bad start in life and I assume no one ever spoke to him which is sad. He is the least smart of all my dogs but is so loveable, my kid dresses him up, he lays in bed with her, just very very snuggly, which again I didnt train him to do, its just in his nature. He loves people.
The other 2 loved me and our family but didnt particularky care for other people like he does.[/quote]
