Call an Uber and go get your kid if that happens.
This happened to me. Friday afternoon, raining hard. It was a PITA, but no biggie. Got an Uber, got the kids, uber'ed back to the car, called AAA. Expensive and annoying, but ok. Daycare didn't even charge me extra (I was about 5 min late picking up). It was fine. I'm sure you'll be fine, but if there is an emergency, you will deal with it and have greater confidence in yourself and your abilities to handle the unexpected.
I’m mainly anxious about it because over the winter, I had an issue with my car and it died. It took an hour and a half for AAA to show up. I wouldn’t have been able to leave the car (it was in a lane) to Uber, and five men tried to move it, but the steering was just stuck. So I was stuck with it.
I mean this kindly, but do you have anxiety generally? If this exact scenario happens, your kids would be safe at daycare or aftercare or wherever they are. You will apologize profusely, pay any extra fees, maybe even a small giftcard to the providers later to make up for it. But it's not dangerous, it's inconvenient. This is how life is. Stuff happens and you deal with it. You will be fine! Trust me.
