The 2019 Mazda CX-5 currently has an engine recall on it with no fix yet. I would avoid Hyundais (and Kias) because they has issues with engine fires over several model years.
2010–2015 Hyundai and Kia models with 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter engines source: https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a27053460/nhtsa-investigation-hyundai-kia-fires/
Tucson not on the list. "Under investigation are the 2010–2015 Kia Soul; 2011–2014 Hyundai Sonata, Sonata hybrid, and Santa Fe; Kia Optima, Optima hybrid, and Sorento; and 2013–2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport."
My point is that they have a history of serious manufacturing issues. I had to have the engine in my Sonata replaced due to a manufacturing defect. It had a bunch of other potentially serious recall issues involving an airbag, transmission, brake lights, etc.
You may not want to drive any car sold in the US in that case. Is there any manufacturer without a major recall?
