"struck a cord" is a figure of speech.
I meant that it makes sense to me why they would be together - two shallow ppl deserve each other, he is with her for her looks and she is with him for his money. They are both shallow and are a perfect couple for each other.
I dont know about other couples but I can judge this one since that is what she said - unless she is being sarcastic.

It goes both ways I guess - if it is ok for some woman to be with a man for his money, then I guess it is ok for him to be with her for her looks. They are both using each other in a loveless shallow marriage. [/quote]
