My son was not benefitting from practices and games (and yes they spend a significant amount of time at practice juggling the ball) so we quickly moved on and are playing for Bethesda. I don’t mind working on individual skills at young ages, but passing is also a skill that needs work (you actually have to stop looking at the ball and look up to find a teammate, not an easy skill at young ages).

FC Frederick also does not believe in having top level teams at that age, so all the top kids are split across 4-5 teams and each of them are very mediocre.

Because of the reverse commute, it takes roughly 25 min to drive to the most Bethesda practice locations. It was taking me about 20 min to get to Ballenger Creek park in Frederick for FC Frederick practices, so it was not much longer of a drive and worth it for a much better experience. Last year there were 4-5 USSDA kids on Bethesda teams from Frederick; each ran away from FC Frederick because of their coaching philosophy.[/quote]
