I arrived at my child’s activity class- she biked there, and I was dropping off, so I was parking her bike by the door. A 2 year old comes over and starts climbing onto the bike, and I say very nicely “sorry sweetie, this bike isn’t for climbing, it’s very heavy and can tip over on you” to which the 2 year old says “no, this is my bike, I’m going to ride it” and gets on the bike as it starts tipping. I hold the bike so it doesn’t fall on her, and now she’s balanced on it while I’m holding the bike up. I say “no, please get off the bike.” Girl goes “no thanks. You push me and give me a ride.”  This goes on for a while, but the girl is obviously not going to listen unless I physically remove her. This is all well and good, as she’s only 2, but I’m like where is the parent?

I look around and there is the mom in the distance looking on with loving eyes not doing a thing. I give her another look and finally she goes, “are you not ok with her on the bike?” And I said, “I don’t want her climbing it. It’s a heavy bike and it will tip, and I have to leave (and can’t babysit your 2yo for you!)” So she finally gets her off the bike, and I leave. And as I’m leaving, I see the girl through the glass door, has just climbed back on the bike and it has fallen on top of her. WTH! I couldn’t believe she let her climb on it again.

How would you have handled the scenario?[/quote]
