i am not op, just have a question for everyone at what month did you start drinking again? and in what amount? I am 3month PP and would like to have a glass of wine here and there
I started drinking after I was off the percocet (c-section). Split beers with my husband for a while (and not every day) because I didn't want to mess with my sleep and wanted to make getting up in the middle of the night as painless as possible. Back to my usual amount of drinking (~2 drinks a few times per week) by month 3.
I highlight the above because I think it is worth noting that in this situation, if you were breastfeeding while also taking percocet, your baby was getting some of that medication. I don't dispute your need to take the medication after surgery, but I think that it is food for thought for the OP, who is concerned about drinking one beer or one glass of wine. As for the original PP's questions, I had a beer the day I brought DD home - just one, with food. I think the first time I drank enough to feel the effects of the alcohol was when DD was about 6 weeks old. Honestly, it felt emotionally weird to me, but part of that was also hormones and EVERYTHING feeling weird to me at that time. 3 month PP, have a glass of wine. I personally recommend eating while drinking, for everyone, not just nursing moms.
