at what month did you start drinking again?

and in what amount?

I am 3month PP and would like to have a glass of wine here and there

I started drinking after I was off the percocet (c-section). Split beers with my husband for a while (and not every day) because I didn't want to mess with my sleep and wanted to make getting up in the middle of the night as painless as possible. Back to my usual amount of drinking (~2 drinks a few times per week) by month 3.

I highlight the above because I think it is worth noting that in this situation, if you were breastfeeding while also taking percocet, your baby was getting some of that medication. I don't dispute your need to take the medication after surgery, but I think that it is food for thought for the OP, who is concerned about drinking one beer or one glass of wine.

As for the original PP's questions, I had a beer the day I brought DD home - just one, with food. I think the first time I drank enough to feel the effects of the alcohol was when DD was about 6 weeks old. Honestly, it felt emotionally weird to me, but part of that was also hormones and EVERYTHING feeling weird to me at that time.

3 month PP, have a glass of wine. I personally recommend eating while drinking, for everyone, not just nursing moms.

I think pp meant you shouldn't drink AND take percocet.

I had a glass of wine in the hospital the night after the baby was born. And my mom gave me a beer to drink every evening because it was supposed to help the milk come in. My OB said, if you're safe to drive, you're safe to nurse. I never had more than a drink a day, usually with dinner.

one? One wouldn't even get you a tiny bit buzzed so you're good to go. As long as you stay at 2 or less, you won't feel it.

Speak for yourself. One drink definitely gets me buzzed.

There are strips you can buy to test your milk. Try Amazon.

Breastmilk comes from blood. So if you're drunk and your blood is .08%, so is your breastmilk. Which is a minute amount. Wait until you're not buzzed and then you're not passing along alcohol in your milk.

We took a class at the Breastfeeding Center and were told there's no need to pump and dump. But the teacher also said don't breastfeed until you are no longer feeling the effects of the alcohol (give a bottle in the meantime if needed).

no need to pump and dump if you are drinking (unless we are talking hugely excessive amounts) - look this up on kellymom or other reliable breastfeeding, evidence-based sources. The amount of alcohol that would make it in to breastmilk is miniscule.
See e.g. https://kellymom.com/bf/can-i-breastfeed/lifestyle/alcohol/

How much are you drinking? I had 1-2 glasses of wine in a evening and didn’t change anything (fed if it was time, etc.).

They make strips to test the milk to see if it’s safe.

do you pump and dump?
Or just try to wait long enough for it to be out of your system? If so- how long do you wait?
