Hyundai Ioniq is a strong contender, but now I'm hearing amazing things about the Hyundai Kona EV... which will not be availbable here until ??????
If I go EV, I like the idea of the Kona because the range will be 250 miles per charge. The Ioniq is more like 120. That's an argument in favor of a plug-in hybrid but those seem like transitional technology.

In an ideal world I'd wait til I could get a Kona (maybe later this year in MD?? We live in VA and I don't think they're ever planning to sell them here). But i'm not sure the Prius will last that long - it's got 180k miles and is running really rough right now.

Another Prius is also an option but I don't really like how the new ones look.
