We are looking for areas that are safe, walkable to stores and not far from metro and Old Town, or that feel similar to Old Town in Arlington. We don't want to live on or right near busy street or an interstate. It seems like a lot of the neighborhoods in Alexandria are off of roads like Telegraph or Route 1. Is that true of all of Alexandria?

East Falls Church-Arlington area was suggested, too. What other areas in Arlington are walking or a short driving distance to stores and restaurants and not off of busy roads? What is the difference also between Falls Church and East Falls Church?

It might be our price range but the listings we receive from the multiple listing service seem to be surrounded by those streets in Alexandria. We're just now adding Arlington into our search.

Any insight would be helpful.
