I'm an adoptee who's done 23 and Me for myself and had considered doing some sort of DNA testing on my adopted child.  I decided no.  She is not a consenting adult and although health history would be wonderful to have, I just don't think it's our right to do that to a person who can't truly consent. [b]There are lots of privacy issues to consider.  In fact, I wish I hadn't done it on myself.  [/b]I truly understand wanting to know medical background- my sister, also adopted, has had heart surgery and cancer, and clearly knowing a medical history would've been great, but it's not our right to do this for our child.[/quote]
