My teen babysitter who does not drive has been babysitting more. I always get her to her jobs, but expect the family who is babysitting to drive her home. One family always seems to expect me to pick her up at the end of the night. I would understand if they ask on occasion if one parent is out of town and the other comes home and does not want to leave young kids alone late at night, but generally if both parents are there shouldn't one of them drive my daughter home?
Depends on the agreement that was made when we arranged the babysitter. I always ask. When we use a younger sitter, I usually check with the parents before asking the sitter, with those 15 or older I ask and am clear about pick up/drop off. We can pick you up, but do you think your parents can come get you at 11:00, or more frequently, can you get here at 6:00, one of us can bring you home when we get back. I think it's hard for a babysitter to get herself home if he/she doesn't drive or isn't in walking distance. It's not fair to ask their parents to sit home waiting for a text to come get them. We've also had sitters whose parents have explicitly asked that their daughter be driven home by me and not DH (it's their policy in general, DD not in cars alone w/men) or who have offered to pick them up.
